Our Roots
The Ninety-Nines is the international organization of women pilots that promotes advancement of aviation through education, scholarships, and mutual support while honoring our unique history and sharing our passion for flight.
Established in 1929 by 99 women pilots, the members of The Ninety-Nines, Inc., International Organization of Women Pilots, are represented in all areas of aviation today. And, to quote Amelia, fly “for the fun of it!”

JANICE SULLIVAN INDUCTED INTO THE 2018 FOREST OF FRIENDSHIP IN KANSAS
Janice Sullivan serves as the Treasurer and is sponsored as an honoree for the International Forest of Friendship by the Bakersfield Chapter of the 99s. She is also part of the Bakersfield Flying Club. She is currently a flight instructor with ratings of CFI, CFII, Multi-engine, Glider and ATP
She has previously been employed as a charter pilot, corporate pilot, flight instructor and an experimental test pilot (Paul McCready’s Solar Challenger). She also works with the FAA as a FAASTeam representative to pomote aviation safety. Ms. Sullivan has logged over 10,500 hours of flight time of which 5,000 hours are as a certified flight instructor. Janice has competed in the Air Race Classic several times. Some of her accolades include recognition by the PlanetSolar Foundation.
