Bakersfield 99s

About Us

The Bakersfield Chapter of the 99s was formed in 1947. Some of our members have been part of the Chapter for decades, others are brand new aviation enthusiasts. We welcome licensed pilots, student pilots, companion flyers, and anyone who has an interest in aviation.

Ninety-Nines, Inc.
Southwest Section Ninety-Nines
We are part of the Ninety-Nines, Inc., an International Organization of Women Pilots, which was launched in 1929 when all 117 licensed female pilots in the United States were invited to assemble for mutual support and the advancement of aviation. Amelia Earhart was elected the first president in 1931 and the organization was named for the 99 charter members.

Monthly Meeting Formal monthly meetings are held the third Monday of the month, September through May, at 6:30 pm at the Petroleum Club in Bakersfield. We hold a special installation dinner in June, and informal gatherings are scheduled during the summer months. The Chapter also schedules Second Sunday Flyouts to aviation destinations around the region, the second Sunday of each month. Please see the Calendar page for details on all upcoming Chapter activities.
